Salyan . The Nepali Congress (NC) has emerged victorious again in the Sharada municipality in Salyan. Party candidate Prakash Bhandari has won the mayor post in the municipality. The local level elections were held on May 13. Bhandari secured 6,127 ballots against 4,937 by his nearest competitor Manoj Pradhan from the CPN (UML).
Similarly, NC’s candidate Susmita Sapkota for the deputy-mayor secured 5,380 votes to emerge victorious on the post. Her nearest competitor Ramesh Gautam from CPN (Unified Socialist) finished the race with 4,522.
The municipality has 15 wards and NC has won eight wards followed by five by the CPN (UML) and one each by the CPN (Maoist Center) and the CPN (Unified Socialist).
